Chandigarh, May 30:
Following continuous plaints of fuel theft from government buses, Punjab Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Monday, asked higher officials that what action has been taken with regard to the instructions to general managers during maiden meeting for ensuring maximum mileage per litre from buses.
During an urgent meeting at his office, S. Bhullar said, Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led government vowed to eradicate corruption from the state. He directed officers to get action taken reports from the general managers on the recovery from drivers taking less mileage than the prescribed.
Exhorting the officers to increase the income of the department, S. Bhullar made it clear that no one will be allowed to misuse the public money, saying that if any officer or employee found to be involved in corruption, strict action would be taken against him.
Stressing to make departmental services online to provide services to the people in a hassle-free and transparent manner, the Transport Minister directed the officials to furnish the draft report for making public services online within 15 days. He expressed hope that this process would not only provide quick and easy access to services to the people, but also curb bus mafia by providing online services such as issuing bus permits. S. Bhullar further mentioned that no discrimination would be tolerated in the timetable allotted to buses.
Secretary Transport Mr. Vikas Garg, Director State Transport Mrs. Amandeep Kaur and Managing Director PRTC Patiala Mrs. Poonamdeep Kaur was also present in the meeting.
