Vigilance nabs ASI for taking bribe of Rs. 30,000

Chandigarh, September 10: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted as reader of DSP City, Ferozepur red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 30,000/-.

Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Gurlabh Singh was arrested on the complaint of Gurdial Singh of village Jhuge Hazara Singh Wala, Ferozepur district. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused Reader was demanding Rs. 50,000 to help him in an enquiry against him and his family members and the deal was struck at Rs. 30,000.

After verifying his information, the VB team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs.30,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
