Vikramaditya is gen secy of revamped Himachal Congress

New Delhi, February 5: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday formed a jumbo committee in Himachal Pradesh ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The committee consists of 15 vice-presidents, 18 general secretaries, 68 secretaries and 17 district chiefs.

Gandhi also set up an executive committee, including its top leaders from the state, such as former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and ex-minister Anand Sharma, as permanent invitees, besides 12 others.

A fortnight ago Gandhi had named Virbhadra the campaign committee chief for LS polls in Himachal.

Today’s rejig has Anita Sharma, Gangu Ram Musafir, Ram Lal Thakur, Chander Kumar, Geeta Negi, Harbhajan Singh Bhajji, Beeru Ram, Ajay Bhadhur Singh, Varender Dharmani, Pawan Kajal, Lakhwinder Rana, Kehar Singh Khachi, Prakash Chaudhary and Mohinder Chauhan in vice-presidents.

Virbhadra Singh’s son Vikramaditya Singh has been named general secretary. Among others are Rajneesh Kimta, Harshwardhan Singh, Ajay Mahajan, Ravi Thakur, Vinod Sultanpuri, Sunder Thakur, Ram Kumar, Sunil Sharma, Kalish Prashar, Naresh Chauhan, Sanjay Awasti, Dharamvir Dhami, Raghuvir Bali, Kewal Singh Pathania, Manmohan Kochar, Vinay Chauhan and Maheshwar Chauhan. Ashish Butail has been made Treasurer of the state unit.

Congress currently does not have any MP from Himachal. All four seats are with the BJP.
