Ferozepur, March 15: With arrest of drug peddler Sandeep Singh alias Bunty, Counter Intelligence (CI) sleuths today claimed to have busted a module involved in supplying drugs to students in Chandigarh.
They also seized a Pakistani SIM card, 340 gm heroin and a tractor from his custody.Narinder Pal Singh Sidhu, AIG (Counter Intelligence), Ferozepur, said that Sandeep Singh was a resident of Nihala Kilcha village in this border district.
The AIG said that Sandeep was wanted in a case related to the seizure of 3 kg heroin and 200 gm opium which was lodged at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Fazilka district.
At that time, three persons Mukhtiar Singh, Gurnam Singh and Surjit Singh had been arrested.
The main accused — Sandeep and Samar Singh — had escaped, said the AIG.“We received a tip-off that Sandeep was in Chandigarh and staying in a university hostel,” said the AIG. Sidhu said that CI sleuths camped in Chandigarh for a few days and tracked his movement.
Sandeep used to stay with law students in their room. At times, he would come to his PG accommodation at Sector 21. After observing his movements, we finally nabbed him from Sector 15 market on March 9, said the AIG.
The accused used to deliver heroin and other drugs to students.During interrogation, a Pakistani SIM card and 340 gm heroin that was concealed in the speakers of the tractor at his residence at Nihala Kilcha village was seized.
