Well qualified ‘Management Trainees’ to ensure better Agri Services to farmers in state- Joginder Singh Mann

In order to give fillip to the ongoing process of crop diversification in the state and facilitate the farmers of Punjab to avail better agri- services, the Punjab Agro Industries Corporation has decided to recruit well qualified ‘Management Trainees’ in the state.

A decision this effect was taken in a meeting of the Board of Directors chaired by the Chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation and former Punjab Minister Mr Joginder Singh Mann here at the office of the corporation.

Chairing the meeting the Chairman, accompanied by Managing Director of Corporation Mr Manjit Singh Brar, said that it was the need of hour to give boost to crop diversification in the state for benefitting the farmers of Punjab. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has already been making strenuous efforts to promote crop diversification thereby bringing them out of the rut of wheat/ paddy circle. Mr Mann said that there was huge potential for alternate cash rich crops in the state for which a major push was needed to make the farmers aware.

The Chairman said that the Corporation being nodal agency for crop diversification in the state would leave no stone unturned to benefit the farmers of the state. He categorically said that Corporation was undertaking slew of pro- farmers activities in form of sale of seeds, gypsum, fertilisers and others for which well qualified ‘Management Trainees’ could play a pivotal role. Mr Mann said that these ‘Management Trainees’ with B.SC (Agriculture) along with Masters in Bussiness Administration (MBA) background would be recruited for better and efficient delivery of Agriculture services.

Reiterating that the farmers of the state could change their fortunes through crop diversification and Food Processing, the Chairman said that there was tremendous potential in the food processing sector and the farmers of the state could be immensely benefitted if they adopt crop diversification and food processing sector. He said that with the increasing demand of direct from farm goods by the consumers the farmers could reap huge profits. Mr Mann envisioned that the Corporation would act as a catalyst for transforming the destiny of the farmers by giving impetus to diversification and agro-based industry.

On the occasion Managing Director of Corporation Mr Manjit Singh Brar, Directors of the board Mr Kiranjit Singh Mitha and Mr Ranjit Singh along with others were also present.
