Chandigarh, May 1: The SAD on Monday decided to hold a meeting of its core committee on May 3 to formulate an action plan to force the Congress government to reinsert all 23 “deleted” chapters related to the era of the Sikh Gurus into the Class XII history book.
Presiding over a party meeting, SAD chief Sukhbir Badal took serious note of the Congress government’s “bid to belittle and insult the glorious history of the Sikh Gurus”.
Former Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema briefed the party as to how the 23 chapters had been deleted and replaced with a half-page description on this period of Sikh history. He said instead of admitting this gross mistake, CM Capt Amarinder Singh was trying to deceive Punjabis by stating that these chapters had been shifted to the Class XI history book.
“The entire syllabus as well as chapter-wise contents of the Class XI book are available on the Internet and it does not contain the 23 chapters on the era of the Sikh Gurus. It has only five chapters devoted to the Sikh history,” he claimed.
