Garhshankar, February 16: Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal today said there was a plan to gherao the state Assembly on the first day of the forthcoming Budget session to take on the Congress government over its “unfulfilled” promises.
Addressing the media on the sidelines of a “poll khol” rally at Saila Khurd village in Garhshankar, Sukhbir alleged: “People affected by the Congress’ fake promises will gherao the Assembly. We will play audio and video tapes of the promises the Congress had made before coming to power. None of these has materialised.”
On Finance Minister Manpreet Badal daring him to a debate, Sukhbir said: “Manpreet doesn’t know a damn thing about finance. He knows that there will be no debate. There is no need for a debate. He better run his department.” He claimed that it was Manpreet who had made all the commitments through his manifesto and was now answerable to people.
Even during the rally, most Akali leaders attacked Manpreet. The placards SAD supporters were carrying too bore slogans against the Finance Minister.
Former minister Bikram Majithia accused both Manpreet and Navjot Singh Sidhu of looting Punjab. He even took on Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi calling him a “khota sikka” over his recent video on ordering transfer by tossing a coin.
