Ludhiana, June 29: The 26-year-old Ludhiana woman, who had accused Ferozepur DSP Daljit Singh of pushing her into drugs, will be the brand ambassador of ‘Nashe Khilaaf Punjab’, a statewide awareness campaign against drugs.

On Friday, the woman came before the media without covering her face.

“I thought why should I cover my face. I am not an accused. Those who smuggle drugs should cover their faces,” she said.

“Many lives have been ruined by drugs in the state. Addicts are actually victims. Society brands them as bad people. All they need is compassion,” the woman, who lives in Ludhiana with her parents, said.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the suspension of DSP Daljit Singh, she said, “An FIR should be filed against the DSP and action should be taken against him.”

During a press conference in Jalandhar, she explained how the DSP pushed her into drugs and raped her. In the presence of her parents, Bains brothers resolved to fight the drug menace.

Simarjit Singh Bains said, “Malala has set an example in Pakistan for fighting for the right to education.” AAP activist Navjot Kaur Lambi will also be a part of the campaign.

“We have launched helpline number 93735-93734. Anyone can share information about the drug menace, death due to drug overdose and smuggling. We will prepare a report every week and will submit it to the Chief Minister and the Special Task Force (STF). If the government takes any good move, we will appreciate it. She will also meet STF officials,” he said.

“An FIR should be filed against the DSP,” MLA Balwinder Singh Bains said.
