Won’t reply to sacrilege panel, says Sukhbir

Date:

Chandigarh, March 2: Sukhbir Badal, president, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), in a communication to the Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry probing the incidents of sacrilege during the SAD-BJP tenure, has “resolved not to reply”.

Sukhbir — in his statement to the Chairman, Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) — said the “present commission is headed by a known Congressman who is a friend of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.”

The former Deputy CM also wrote that he had not received the original communication “for which the reminder, now, had been sent”.  He said he did not even know the questions in the original one. The SAD told the Chairman to “recuse yourself from chairing the commission.”
