28-year-old youth hacked to death over old enmity in Ropar

Ropar, June 28: A 28-year-old youth was allegedly hacked to death by seven local residents here on Tuesday. The victim identified as Kamal Sharma, alias Nona, was facing nearly six criminal cases, including theft.

Jatinder Kumar, brother of the deceased, said the assailants had old enmity with Kamal. The police have booked Bikram, Ashu and Mani, all three brothers residing in Choa Mohalla, Prince and three other unidentified persons for murder.

Kamal, who was attacked with sharp-edged weapons, suffered serious injuries on head. Ropar SHO Gursewak Singh said the police got information that a youth was lying injured on Railon Road in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar locality. The police shifted him to the Civil Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
