Jalandhar, May 1

Targeting prevoius governments,Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains listed out the major changes and reforms made by his government in the education sector during the last one year.

During a press conference in Jalandhar on Monday, Harjot Bains said that Congress-Akali leaders never even tweeted a single tweet on education and health, but after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has made education and health a center of politics. Now education and health in Punjab has become talk of the town.

He said that during the previous Congress government, books did not reach primary schools till October-November, due to which children could not study properly and teachers had to teach from photostat books. This year we delivered the books to all the schools before 31st March, keeping in mind that there is no miss print in the books.

Expressing happiness over the increase in the number of admissions in primary schools, the Education Minister said that due to the sincere efforts of our government to improve education, this year, admissions in primary schools have increased by 75,000 as compared to last year from which 13% admission has increased in nursery only. He said that in Tarn Taran district, where the condition of schools was very bad earlier, there has been a huge increase in the number of admissions in primary schools.

Beside, we have created a separate infrastructure development cell to ensure the funds are recieved on time for the maintenance of schools and new buildings. Provision has also been made for weekly meeting for this. For school repair work, it has also been decided that most of the maintenance work will be done in the summer vacation months of June and July, so that there is no hindrance in the education of the children.

He said that along with improving the condition of schools, we are also working on the shortage of teachers in primary schools. For this, the recruitment process of 16000 teachers is going on and 13000 temporary teachers will be regularised soon. All matters related to this have been resolved in the court. In the coming few months, they will also get all the facilities and salary as the regular teachers.

Claiming victory of AAP candidate in Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election, Harjot Bains said that we spoke to the people of Jalandhar. After talking to the people here, I am sure that the victory of AAP candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku is certain in the by-election.

During the conference,AAP Punjab Secretary Sunny Ahluwalia and AAP leader Mangal Singh Basi were also present.
