Mohali, Sep 15:  Just two months before her wedding, Amandeep Kaur (25) was left to die in the middle of Airport Road for 45 minutes. Her cries for help went in vain after a tipper rider hit her Activa scooter and fled. The accident happened at around 9 am on Wednesday morning.

Amandeep breathed her last at Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32. “The last words she uttered were, ‘I want to talk to my father, please call him’,” recalled Yadwinder Singh, her relative and the first to reach the spot. He said on her way to the hospital, Amandeep had told her that instead of taking her to hospital, some passersby took photos of her.

Her family is in a state of shock.

“We had finalised all the wedding bookings,” said Harwinder Singh, her brother-in-law.

This was turning out to be an eventful year for Amandeep, an MBA Yamunanagar, had just switched her job to Virmani Tele Services in Mohali. On April 27, Amandeep had got engaged to Aman Singh, working in Punjab and Sind Bank in Bilaspur near Rudrapur. The couple had fixed the wedding for November 13.
