Ajit Singh Shant is from Nihal Singh Wala Tehsil, Distt Moga. Son of Gurdev Singh, he did his Post Graduation from Punjabi University, Patiala, in 1986. He will seek election from this constituency on Akali Dal’s ticket.

Political Standing:
Shant wields considerable clout in Moga district. He had won the election from Nihal Singh Wala Assembly constituency in 2007 as an Independent candidate. Later, he had joined the Congress. Shant lost the 2012 elections from Nihal Singh Wala the us Rajwinder Kaur of Shiromani Akali Dal by a narrow margin of 591 votes. His father Gurdev Singh was also an MLA from Nihal Singh Wala in 1977. In 2013, he left the Congress the us join the Shiromani Akali Dal.
