Advocate Amarpal Singh, practicing at Batala courts, is Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate from Shri Hargobindpur (reserved). He volunteered during the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement and later joined the AAP.

Constituency

Sri Hargobindpur is a municipal council in Gurdaspur district. Situated on the banks of Beas river, the city is also the erstwhile capital of Ramgarhia Misl. As of 2001 Census, Sri Hargobindpur had a population of 3,993. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. There is an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 69%, and female literacy is 63%. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
