Anu Randhawa is all of 35 years. The daughter of former Congress MLA late Jasjit Singh Randhawa, she had been seeking the Congress ticket from Ghanaur. However, the state party chief backed former MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur.
The constituency is presently represented by Harpreet Kaur Mukhmailpur of the Shiromani Akali Dal.

Not new the us politics, Anu Randhawa has been unsuccessfully seeking the ticket from Congress. But as Congress party failed the us meet her demand, she joined Aam Aadmi Party in March. She claimed that she quit the Congress because its leaders were not adhering the us the party ideology. After getting the AAP ticket, she said, “I am delighted that the party has shown confidence in me.”
