Jalandhar, Feb 8: Istri Akali Dal president Bibi Jagir Kaur has demanded immediate arrest of senior Congress leader Jagdish Tytler for his alleged role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
On Monday the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) released a video of a purported sting operation of Tytler in which he allegedly admitted to killing 100 Sikh during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
“The BJP government at the Centre will be termed anti-Sikh if it fails to take action against Tytler,” said the chief of Akali Dal’s women wing, adding that the Congress had been avoiding the issue for the past over three decades as its leaders are involved in the massacre of innocent Sikhs.
She said the Akali Dal will approach the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and will also move court against Tytler to seek justice for anti-Sikh riot victims. “SAD leaders led by MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal met Union home minister Rajnath Singh to seek the arrest of the Tytler. We hope that the central government will take action,” said Jagir Kaur.
Speaking at a rally in Fazilka, Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal said Tytler was seen bragging about having killed 100 Sikhs in the ‘sting’ video. “This is proved beyond doubt that former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and the Congress were behind the 1984 Sikh massacre.” Demanding immediate arrest of Tytler and registration of a fresh case to probe Rajiv’s and the Gandhi family’s role in the riots, Sukhbir said the SAD would take up the fight to ensure justice is delivered to the Sikhs.
