Experts have questioned the practice of charging fees for supplementary examinations from students. They, however, suggested that the government and teachers should bear the burden of the supplementary examination fee.

Sources said that of more than 1.76 lakh students (81,738 in Class XII and 94,271 in Class X) who got compartment, 1.43 lakh have applied to sit in supplementary examinations.
Class X students have paid Rs1,050 each as examination fee, while Class XII students paid Rs1,350.

Dr Kuldip Puri, a professor of education, PU, hit out at the state and the PSEB for generating revenue out of failure of state-run institutions. “To blame teachers alone for poor results is wrong.”

Even students from SC families, exempted from paying tuition and examination fee, have been asked to pay the fee.
