Chandigarh, September 14
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab objected to the voter outreach program of Captain Amarinder Singh, stating that the Congress was carrying out election programs by going against the orders of the farmers under the guise of its government. Along with this, the AAP has accused Captain Amarinder Singh of deceiving the farmers by terming his statement; asking the farmers to protest in Delhi, as irresponsible.
Addressing a press conference held at the party headquarters here on Tuesday, AAP’s national executive member and MLA Aman Arora appealed to the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, stating that they should tighten the reins of the Congress and Captain or reconsider their orders to the political parties; not to hold rallies and other programs, otherwise they should allow other parties, like the Congress, to organise political programs. He said this was a clear violation of the conditions fixed in the meeting of the Kisan Morcha with the political parties. “After four- and-a-half-years, Captain, who was sitting in the farmhouse, now remembers going to the public before the elections,” he added.
Arora said it would have been better that the Chief Minister, who was merry-making at the farmhouse for so long, would sit at home for three more months following the advice of the Kisan Morcha. He said today, just a few months before the elections, Captain has started tying bundles of false promises by going among the people. Arora said, “Why did Captain Amarinder Singh, who had taken a false oath of Sri Gutka Sahib and made false promises to the public, remember the public a few months before the elections? Arora said because the public wants change this time and the false promises of Captain will not be embraced this time.
Aman Arora said that only allowing Captain to do political programs would be unfair to other parties. “This will directly benefit the Modi government at the Centre,” he added. Arora said the Aam Aadmi Party has been supporting the farmers’ movement from day one and the leaders and supporters of the party will stand with the farmers in future also. He said this fight against the black agricultural laws was not only of the farmers but an equal fight of all sections. The AAP leader further said that along with the Modi government at the Centre, the Badals and Captain Amarinder Singh are equally responsible for the difficulties being faced by the general public due to the farmers’ protest and their martyrdom.
Arora said if Captain Amarinder Singh, being a member of the committee constituted by the Centre for agricultural reforms, had brought the dark truth of these black laws to the public in time and Harsimrat Kaur Badal had not signed these bills, then we would not have had to face this day. “If Amarinder Singh believes that the state is suffering financial loss due to the farmers’ protest, then Captain should tell what pressure he has put on Prime Minister Narendra Modi till now to withdraw the black laws. Captain should also tell what are the steps he has taken to save Punjab from economic loss before these protests?” added Arora.
Aman Arora said that Captain Amarinder Singh should tell the people of Punjab what he has done to make the state business financially strong before these dharnas and demonstrations. Apart from this, many sections including teachers, doctors, Anganwadi workers, roadways employees are sitting on dharna. Does Captain Amarinder Singh want to send them to Delhi or Haryana? Arora said that after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in 2020, MSP to the farmers Issues like guarantee of employment, providing cheap electricity to the youth, ending the contract system and providing permanent jobs will be included in the priority of the party.
The AAP leader questioned the Chief Minister, “In Punjab, apart from the farmers, many sections including teachers, doctors, anganwadi workers, roadways employees are sitting on dharnas. Does Captain Amarinder Singh also want to send them to Delhi or Haryana?” Arora said after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party’s government in 2022, issues like guaranteeing MSP to the farmers, providing employment to youth, cheap electricity, ending the contract system and arranging permanent jobs will be included in the priority of the party.
