Chandigarh, December 26: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Saturday commented on the statement made by Congress state president Sunil Jakhar, that the Congress Central Committee was not serious about the protest being staged by Punjab Congress MPs and it proved that the Congress was not serious about the farmers’ issue, but was playing its own drums and pretending to be pro-farmer. In a statement issued from the party headquarters, senior leader and MLA Aman Arora said it was already being discussed that the Congress was equally responsible for making black laws and the BJP, Akali Dal and the Congress, were only pretending to save their existence. He said that the statement made by the Congress state president on Friday, proved that both the Congress and the BJP were hand in glove on the issue of farmers and were anti-farmer. Arora said that Captain Amarinder Singh-led state government was an anti-farmer government and was using various manoeuvers to suppress the agitation of the farmers.
“Even now, at the behest of Captain Amarinder, protests are staged by Congress MPs at Jantar Mantar with the sole purpose of weakening the farmers’ movement in one way or another. In order to weaken the movement, Captain had earlier pretended to be farmer friendly by doing a drama of Rahul Gandhi’s tractor show in Punjab and to divert the attention of the people, Captain Amarinder Singh had announced to hold a rally at Shambhu border on the same day when the farmers announced to protest all over the country. He said that to debilitate the movement of lakhs of farmers who were stuck in severe cold on the Delhi borders, Captain had staged a dharna of his MPs at Jantar Mantar, which the Congress Central Committee, itself, was not happy about.
Arora said it was also proved that the issue of farmers was not a big issue for the Congress. He said that if Congress was really a little bit pro-farmer, then on Friday, when the Aam Aadmi Party Punjab President and MP Bhagwant Mann and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh were raising slogans in favor of farmers in front of PM Modi, then the Congress leaders should not had remained silent but would also had raise the farmers’ issue. He further asked the people of the country to be vigilant against the anti-people decisions of the dictatorial Modi government at the Centre and also to be wary of parties like Congress, who was working as BJP’s ‘B’ team; whose only job was to weaken the farmers’ movement.
