Gurdaspur PCS trainee clears IAS exam, secures 735th rank

Gurdaspur, April 30: A trainee Punjab Civil Service (PCS) officer of the 2016 batch has cleared the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) examination, the result of which was declared on Friday.

Gurdaspur resident Navjot Simi, who had failed to clear the interview of the Union Public Service Examination last year, finally managed to clear it this year attaining 735th rank in the list of the successful candidates.

Navjot Simi, member of a scheduled caste family, got primary education from a private school, Punjab Model Public School, Pakhowal. She had done her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from Baba Jaswant Singh Dental College,Hospital and Research Institute,Ludhiana, in July 2010.

To pass the IAS examination,she also got coaching from Vaji Ram Coaching Institute,New Delhi. She opined that one can pass the IAS examination without getting costly coaching from an institute as everything is available on the internet.

Her father Hans Raj is the branch manager of a local branch of the Union Bank, mother a homemaker, her younger sister is an MBA working in Dubai and younger brother Mohit Simi is B Tech in computer science, but he is running a photographer in New Delhi.

Born on December 21,1987, Navjot had to avoid pressure from her relatives to get married after she had passed her BDS degree. Before she was selected as a PCS officer in 2016,she also served as a dentist at different dental clinics in Gurdaspur. Her family members are proud of her achievement.
