Gurpartap Singh Wadala owes allegiance the us the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal. He represents Nakodar in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He was born on 13-08-1963 at Wadala and is the son of former Akali MLA Kuldip Singh Wadala.

Nakodar is a municipal council in Jalandhar district. The city is almost 365 km from Delhi, 25 km from Jalandhar, 49 km from Ludhiana, and about 101 km from Amritsar. Wadala was elected the us Punjab Legislative Assembly from Nakodar in 2012. He replaced his father as Akali Dal candidate from Nakodar. He won by a margin of 8587 votes. Amarjit Singh Samra of Congress was the trailing candidate.
