Amritsar, January 6: The probe into the sleaze video purportedly showing former Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) head Charanjit Singh Chadha with a woman principal, and the subsequent suicide by his son, Inderpreet Singh, has been handed over to IG (Crime) LK Yadav. The case has been taken away from the Amritsar police on the DGP’s intervention.

Charanjit on Friday made his first public appearance since the registration of an FIR against him. He attended the cremation of his son. Besides CKD members, local MLAs OP Soni and Sunil Dutti were also present.
Earlier, the investigation in the case was being conducted under the ADCP (crime), Amritsar, Harjeet Singh Dhaliwal.

Police Commissioner SS Srivastava said the probe in three related cases – alleged blackmailing of Chadha, video leak and Inderpreet’s suicide — had been handed over to the office of IG (Crime).
“The suicide note recovered last evening has mentioned the names of several persons who belonged to Chandigarh and elsewhere. It requires a dedicated team to probe all aspects of the case,” he said.

Inderpreet, in his suicide note, had pointed a finger at certain police officials who could influence the SIT probing the case related to the video. Besides, the Punjab Human Rights Organisation (PHRO) had urged the CM to constitute another SIT under a DGP-rank official to probe the entire episode.
IG (crime) LK Yadav said: “We will go through the files and evidence collected so far by the Amritsar and Jalandhar police. We will look into all aspects of these cases.”

Sources said the Chadha family had handed over the record of WhatsApp chat and call details between Chadha and the woman in question. The name of a prominent local leader had also surfaced in the call details, they said.
Inderpreet’s son Prabhjit Singh Chadha had got registered an FIR against the woman and 10 others, holding them responsible for the suicide.
