Amritsar, February 28: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the suicide of Inderpreet Singh Chadha, son of former Chief Khalsa Diwan president Charanjit Singh Chadha, arrested nine accused today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Lakhbir Singh confirmed that the Crime Branch had arrested Harjit Singh Chadha (Inderpreet’s younger brother), Surjit Singh, Vijay Umat, Gursewak Singh, Inderpreet Singh Anand, K Ghumman and Davinder Sandhu, besides the principal who had lodged a complaint of sexual harassment against Charanjit, and her husband.
They were arrested in Chandigarh and later brought to Amritsar. They will be produced in the court tomorrow.
The SIT, led by IG (Crime) LK Yadav, is probing the blackmail case registered in Jalandhar, the video clip in which Charanjit was purportedly seen with the principal, and Inderpreet’s suicide.Inderpreet had ended his life on January 3 after his father was accused of sexual abuse.
