Jammu: LeT terrorist Abu Dujana killed in Pulwama encounter

Jammu: Abu Dujana, top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander of Kashmir, has been reportedly killed by security forces during an encounter in Pulwama. Abu Dujana, who managed to escape from the encounter site five times, was trapped after security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Hakripora village in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Pulwama district.

The encounter began at 4:30 am. Two civilians were injured amid stone pelting at the site of the encounter. According to initial reports, LeT Kashmir chief Abu Dujana reportedly had gone to visit his wife in Pulwama, which helped the Army trap him.

Of the two civilians injured, Jehangir Ahmad Dar was hit by a bullet in the back while Mudasir Ahmad was hit by pellets in the chest, an official said, adding both have been admitted to different hospitals, as per a PTI report.

Internet services have been snapped in south Kashmir as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.

The terrorist hideout in Pulwama, in which other Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were hiding, was torched by the security forces, according to a CNN-News18 report. Dujana was believed to be hiding in the first floor of the residential complex.

Joint cordon and search operations (CASO) was launched by 182 Battalion, 183 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operations Group (SOG) at 4:30 am in Hakripora village of Pulwama after receiving an intelligence input about the presence of militants in the area.

However, there is no official statement in this regard.

Meanwhile, heavy stone-pelting is being reported in the area in the wake of the encounter.
