Chandigarh, December 26: The new agricultural black laws introduced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led centre government was not only anti-farmer but also against the poor, middle class and small traders of the country, who would be the most hit among all. These views were expressed through a statement released from the party headquarters by senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Legislative Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema. He said that while the new agricultural laws would grab the land of farmers by giving them to the capitalists, depriving them of their assets; the law related to the stocking of essential commodities would eliminate the poor and traders of the country.
Cheema said that the majority of the country’s population was living below the poverty line and there was always a concern to juggle for two time of bread. “With an end on the limit of stocking essential commodities, the capitalists would hoard the food items on a large scale and sell it to the poor at an expensive price. The central government should have come out with new laws for public welfare to remove poverty, but the government instead is working to eliminate the poor by crushing them,” he added. Cheema said that it would endanger the future of the poor as well as the middle class and small traders. “With this law, inflation would be out of control and there would be an increase in black marketing,” he added.
The Leader of Opposition said that the government had cut off its hands to benefit the capitalists. He said the government would not be able to take any action on these corporate houses to control the price. “The government would only intervene when the prices of dry items such as pulses would be more than double by purchase,” said Cheema. The AAP leader further said that surprisingly, the government elected by the people and for the people, was not working for them today, but at the behest of the capitalists, was only pushing the people of the country towards the slavery of these corporate houses.
Cheema said that the Modi government should not sacrifice the farmers, poor, middle class and small traders of the country for their personal interests. He said that today, crores of people were agitating on the roads in severe cold to secure their future and in view of their sentiments, the Prime Minister should immediately call the session of Parliament and repeal the three black laws.
