The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab strongly condemned the indiscriminate caning of the farmers in Haryana and Punjab who were forced to protest against the anti-agriculture black laws; stating that the spirit of dictator Hitler had entered the ruling BJP and the Congress, that is why these governments want to suppress the voice of the ‘annadatas’ under a repressive policy. Meanwhile, rising above partisanship, the Aam Aadmi Party declared cooperation and support at all levels to the ‘Bharat Bandh’ call on September 25 against the Modi government’s stubborn stance on black farm laws.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Sunday, AAP’s Kisan Wing state president and MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan directly blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for the indiscriminate violence against farmers in Haryana. “The BJP will have to pay the price for such a repressive policy of the government across the country,” he said.

Sandhwan said the voice of ‘annadatas’ and any citizen of the country, for their rights and interests could not be suppressed with canes, as the Constitution of India gives them the right to protest and raise their voice within the constitutional ambit for their rights; the Constitution, whose oath, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister had taken before assuming their charge. “Therefore, the use of batons by the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Haryana along with the Chief Minister of Punjab, against the protesters is a direct violation of the Constitution,” he added.

Lashing out at the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that on one hand the Congressmen were condemning the caning of the farmers by the Khattar government and on the other hand, were cane-charging the farmers in Punjab. Condemning the cane-charge in Amritsar, Sandhwan asked Captain Amarinder Singh and the entire Congress what was the difference between the BJP and the Congress for suppressing the voice of the people with batons.

Taking a dig at the ruling Congressmen, Sandhwan said not a day goes by in Punjab without the Punjab government harassing, abusing and caning unemployed, doctors, nurses, teachers, employees, laborers and farmers along with other protesters. He said such repressive policies would be avenged by the people with the right to vote and the dictatorial BJP and the Congress would be overthrown.

At the same time, Kultar Singh Sandhwan strongly supported the agitating farmers’ call for ‘Bharat Bandh’ on September 25 and said that the Aam Aadmi Party will extend its full support to the farmers’ ‘Bharat Bandh’ at all levels, keeping its flag and political agenda aside.
