Chandigarh, September 3
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has questioned the ruling Congress for its indiscriminate atrocity of the farmers in Moga, asking what is the difference between the Captain government of Punjab and the Manohar Lal Khattar government of Haryana in raining batons on the farmers. Strongly condemning the cane-charging in Moga, the Aam Aadmi Party has demanded immediate cancellation of the FIRs lodged against more than 200 farmers and also advised the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to give up the toxic attitude like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, towards the farmers.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Friday, AAP MLA and Kisan Wing Punjab president Kultar Singh Sandhwan said, “Captain’s police have killed democracy and violated the Indian Constitution by hurling canes and water cannons at the peaceful protesting farmers in Moga for questioning Sukhbir Singh Badal about the black farm laws.” He said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was following in the footsteps of his boss Narendra Modi and was torturing the farmers due to his secret pact with the Badal family; which the people of Punjab would never tolerate.

Criticizing the Congress state president Navjot Singh Sidhu, Kultar Singh Sandhwan said the police of the Congress government was oppressing the farmers, day in and day out; but Navjot Sidhu is silent on the issue. He said that Navjot Sidhu was shouting in favor of the farmers on the stage but he never spoke against the caning and FIRs lodged by the Punjab Police on the farmers.

Commenting on SAD president and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Kultar Singh Sandhwan said, “Instead of running away from the farmers, Sukhbir Singh Badal should answer the questions raised by the farmers as the Badal family has always called itself a benevolent of the farmers. Now when the farmers ask their benevolent leader about betraying the agricultural laws, this leader runs away from confronting the farmers.” He said a few days back, Sukhbir Singh Badal had termed the protesting farmers as ‘mischievous elements’ and today as per the instructions of Sukhbir, Captain has cane-charged and registered cases against the farmers.

Sandhwan alleged that the Congress, Akali Dal Badal and the Bharatiya Janata Party were alike in cane-charging and using water cannons on the farmers, because where the BJP, Akali Dal Badal and the Congress are equally responsible for black agriculture laws; at the same time, these authorities are doing the same thing in harassing the farmers and registering cases. He said if the Congress government had even a little bit in its mind towards the farmers, then the atrocities like Karnal would not have been repeated in Moga.
