Man thrashed, shamed for meeting woman friend

Abohar, March 31: A young man of Kikkarkhera village, 8 km from Abohar, had to pay a heavy price for meeting his woman friend, who was married in a neighbouring village sometime ago.

The woman reportedly alleged that her husband was a drunkard and upset over his conduct, she had come to spend some days with her parents at Kikkarkhera village last week.

When her old friend Bittu visited her on March 23 to inquire about the problems she was facing after marriage, some residents of Kikkarkhera and Kandhwala Amarkot villages caught him, beat him up, blackened his face, put shoes on his head and around his neck and paraded him through village streets.

They later uploaded videos on social media to humiliate him, she complained to the police.The district police chief has ordered an investigation on the woman’s complaint.

A case was registered under Sections 341, 342, 365 and 500 of the IPC and 66A of the IT Act at the Wahabwala police station on Thursday.

The miscreants have been identified as Kattu Ram, Sunil Kumar, Veero, Bholi and Shyam Sunder. Four or five other accused are yet to be identified.Inspector Bachan Singh has initiated an investigation.
