Chandigarh, February 26: The SAD today appealed to the Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice to probe the “extortion racket led by Bathinda-based Congress leaders, who were collecting “goonda tax” on sand and gravel and refinery carriage.
Party spokesman Maheshinder Singh Grewal alleged that since two companies supplying sand and gravel to Bathinda refinery had submitted a “proof” against the mining mafia to the district administration, it was a fit case for an inquiry by a sitting judge of the High Court. “The complaint by construction firm owner Ashok Bansal clearly states that he was threatened by aides of Congress district president Narinder Bhaleria, who allegedly reports to Finance Minister Manpreet Badal. Bhaleria is also a relative of Congress Rampura Phul MLA Gurpreet Singh Kangar.”
