Mumbai, September 25: Invest Punjab high level delegation jointly led by Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Education & PWD Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Wednesday encouraged the Tata Group to start more International and Domestic flights from Mohali International Airport to expand the Air Connectivity in Punjab. The visiting delegation on behalf of Punjab Government sought major direct International flights between Mohali to Singapore and London while Domestic flights including Mohali to Amritsar and Jaipur.
The visiting delegation from Invest Punjab made this demand before the President, Infrastructure and Defence & Aerospace at Tata Sons Private Limited Banmali Agrawala and CEO & MD, Tata Power Limited Praveer Sinha during a meeting. The Tata Group has given a positive response to the Punjab Government’s request and assured to consider their demand.
Addressing the representatives of Tata Group, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal said that keeping in view the demand of Punjabis, settling abroad in large numbers, expanding the air connectivity from Mohali International Airport is the need of the hour. He said that direct flights between Mohali to Singapore and London are in high demand. He said that the starting of low-fare domestic flights between Mohali to Amritsar and Jaipur will be a great relief for the residents of the state and tourists.
Finance Minister said that the Punjab Government will also request Aviation Ministry on their behalf to give approval to these much needed flights.
Meanwhile, the visiting delegation also met representatives of Hinduja group including Gopichand P Hinduja, Ashok Hinduja and Parkash P Hinduja and extended an invitation to attend the Progressive Punjab Investors Sammelan-2019 going to be held in December. Deliberating upon the collaborations for electrical vehicles, the delegation also sought financial support to industry from Hinduja Group. Delegation also met Adi Godrej Chairman of Godrej group.
The high level delegation from Punjab also includes Additional Chief Secretary Investment Promotion, Industry and Commerce Vini Mahajan, CEO Invest Punjab Rajat Agarwal, Joint CEO Avneet Kaur, Chief Electrical Inspector Arunjit Singh Sidhu and DGM Gaurav Khanna.
