Chandigarh, October 27: Aiming to eradicate corruption among society, ADGP-cum-Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau (VB) Punjab BK Uppal on Tuesday administered pledge to all the officers/officials of Bureau at Punjab Vigilance Bhawan, S.A.S.Nagar on the first day of Vigilance Awareness Week.
While addressing the VB officials after administering the pledge, BK Uppal said “it is moral duty of VB personnel to sensitize the people about their rights and duties to contain corruption and assist the bureau in its efforts to root out the evil from the society. He asked all the VB officers/officials to perform their duty with full devotion and dedication so as to eliminate the problem of corruption among society.
VB chief stated that proper investigation of all cases should be completed in time bound manner so that punitive action could be initiated at the earliest against the corrupt officials. To improve the quality of public service delivery mechanism he emphasised to use automation, IT techniques and efficient investigation besides proper information to whistleblowers.
He asked the VB officials to submit challans in the courts in a stipulated time after thorough probe of all registered cases. Apart from this, he lauded the vigorous efforts of whistleblowers and directed all SSPs to propose the names of whistleblowers for appreciation certificates.
Giving more details BK Uppal said during this week, VB would organise awareness campaign across the state especially in educational institutions through the display of banners and posters to make our youth aware about the ill effects of corruption and the efforts being made by bureau in preventing corruption in public offices.
Among others present on the occasion included Director-cum-IG LK Yadav, IG EOW Vibhu Raj, DIG Surjit Singh Grewal, Joint Director Crime Paramjit Singh Virk, Joint Director Admn HS Bhullar, AIG Flying Squad Ashish Kapoor and AIG EOW Gursharandeep Singh Grewal and Joint Director Varinder Singh Brar.
