Jalandhar, August 1: Ahead of the Panchayati Raj elections, the SAD has alleged that the ruling Congress has got the existing plan of ward distribution for panchayats, zila parishads and block samitis reorganised to suit their candidates.
Akali leaders across Doaba have said the wards within panchayats have been completely mixed up, confining all their party supporters to one or two wards so as to build a Congress campaign in the rest of the wards of that village.
Nakodar MLA Gurpartap Wadala said: “The houses of our party workers and supporters have been pushed to one corner by the ruling Congress to make a better game for themselves.”
MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu alleged, “Haripur village was earlier a part of Adampur block, but now has been moved to Patara block where from a former Congress MLA’s son is interested in contesting.” Varinder Sharma, DC, Jalandhar, said, “We had advertised that July 25 is the last day of publication of revised lists.”
