Nangal, July 17: Acting swiftly following a robbery by three youths at gunpoint, the district police nabbed all the accused within half an hour here on Monday. The accused, identified as Harkanwal (25), resident of nearby Burari village, along with two juveniles allegedly looted foreign currency worth Rs 3.5 lakh from a Western Union money exchange office on the railway road in the afternoon.

Money exchanger Suresh Kumar Shastri said it was around 2.30 pm when two youths armed with a double-barrel gun and a baton entered his office and asked him to hand over all the money. One of them holding gun even roughed him up. Following this, he handed over all the currency lying in the cash box, including euros and dollars, worth Rs 3.5 lakh to them. After this the duo fled with their third accomplice who was waiting outside on a Scooty.

Shastri said he informed the police and immediately a team, led by DSP Raminder Singh Kahlon, reached the spot.

Kahlon said Shastri informed that the accused had fled towards the Adda market and he chased them. He intercepted them near Manpur village and overpowered them with the help of his colleagues.

“Harkanwal, science graduate, who used the licensed gun of his father in the crime, has returned after staying in Dubai for three years, while his two juvenile accomplices are students of Class XII,” said the DSP.
