Probe Cong MLA’s picture in police stations, says SAD

Chandigarh, December 6: Akali Dal senior vice-president Daljit Singh Cheema Tuesday urged Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh to order a probe into the installation of portraits of CM Capt Amarinder Singh and Sangrur MLA Vijay Inder Singla by Youth Congress activists in two police stations in Sangrur on Monday.

Cheema, who also forwarded pictures of the activists boasting about this “achievement” on social media to the Chief Secretary, alleged that the incident proved that the politicisation of the state police was complete. “It also shows that the Congress has taken over the police stations and is virtually running them,” he added.

He said there was no provision to install the portrait of the local MLA in police stations. “As per this logic, the portraits of the SAD and even AAP legislators should be installed in all police stations in their respective constituencies,” he added.
