Jalandhar, May 9: Aam Aadmi Party candidate Rattan Singh Kakar Kalan, an NRI who runs a construction business in Dubai, on Wednesday filed his nomination papers in the presence of senior party leaders, including Leader of the Opposition Sukhpal Khaira.

Sunam MLA Aman Arora, party’s co-convener Dr Balbir Singh and Doaba zone president Paramjit Singh Sachdeva were also present on the occasion.

However, Jalandhar leaders, including district president Babbu Neelkanth, were conspicuous by their absence. Some of them claimed that they had no information regarding the filing of papers. There are reports that many are planning to quit the party.
While reports suggest that Neelkanth may join the Congress in the presence of CM Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday, the leaders denied the reports.
