Addressing a meeting of councillors as well as former councillors of Ludhiana at the party office here, the SAD president asked the party rank and file to form committees to ensure Congress goons did not capture booths as had happened during elections to the Patiala municipal corporation as well as other corporation and committee elections earlier. He also made it clear that discipline was of utmost importance and that strict action would be taken against anyone breaching party discipline.

Badal also formed a four member committee comprising senior leaders Balwinder Singh Bhundur, Sikander Singh Maluka, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and Dr Daljit Singh Cheema to hold talks with the BJP to finalise ticket sharing between both alliance partners. The committee will also recommend party candidates for the election.

The SAD has also decided to form a central office in Ludhiana for the corporation election. This will be manned by former minister Maheshinder Singh Grewal and senior Ludhiana leader Jiwan Dhawan.

Others present on the meeting included Hira Singh Gabria, Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, Prem Mittal and Harbhajan Singh Dang.
